Daniel Quintero Plata

Daniel is an incoming Ph.D. student in German Studies. He feels honored to have been selected as a Raymund Fellow and is confident that the fellowship will be a fundamental form of support for his academic and professional development.

Daniel's interests in languages, literature, film, and culture led him to pursue a B.A. in German Studies and German as a Foreign Language at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, in Bogotá, where he is from originally. He also lived for one year in Berlin, Germany, where he completed an academic exchange at the Europa Universität Viadrina.

Most recently, Daniel completed his M.A. in German Studies at the University of Connecticut, where he focused on literature and film analysis, German History of the 20th century, and Digital Humanities. During his time there, Daniel also worked as a teaching assistant.

Through earning his Ph.D., Daniel is looking forward to gaining the knowledge and experiences necessary to continue analyzing and exploring the intersections of language, literature, and film — both in German culture and interculturally.

In the future, Daniel hopes to pursue an academic career and contribute to his field of study by researching and applying the knowledge he gains to his teaching; creating curriculums with a strong digital focus to foster multimodality in language and literature classes.
