Official Transcript Requirement

At the time of application, applicants must submit official transcripts from all colleges or universities from which you received a bachelor’s degree or any subsequent degree.

Transcripts must show the title of the degree earned and the date the degree was conferred. Transcripts are subject to review and verification of authenticity.

In cases where documents are not issued in English, applicants must submit certified word-for-word English translations of all documents.

Transcripts are to be submitted to the Office of Admissions—please do not send transcripts to the Graduate School.

Some graduate programs may require additional sets of official or unofficial transcripts to be submitted directly to the department. This may include transcripts from institutions where you did not earn a degree.

Please check with your prospective program for information about their requirements.

Acceptable Methods of Submission

Option 1

You ask your previous institution to send an official transcript directly to the University of Oregon in a sealed envelope that bears a seal, stamp or official signature from the institution across the back flap of the envelope.

Mail to:
Office of Admissions

Please do not send transcripts to the Graduate School.

Option 2

You obtain an official transcript from your previous institution in a sealed envelope that bears a seal, stamp or official signature from the institution across the back flap of the envelope.

You place that envelope, unopened, into a larger envelope and mail the transcript to the University of Oregon.

Mail to:

Option 3

If your degree institution offers official electronic copies sent by a secured provider (e.g., National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, Scrip Safe) you may have them sent directly from the institution at registrar@uoregon.edu.

Note: we cannot accept PDF attachments via email.

Common Scenarios

  • Degree in Progress: If you have not yet finished your degree at the time of application, you are not required to send your in-progress transcript to the Office of Admissions. However, if you are admitted, you will need to send your final transcript after your degree is conferred.

  • No Degree Earned at Previous Institution: The Office of Admissions does NOT require transcripts from institutions where you did not earn a bachelor's degree or higher (e.g., community college work, work you transferred in to your degree-granting school.)

  • University of Oregon Degree: If you attended or are currently attending the University of Oregon, you do not need to send your University of Oregon transcript to the Office of Admissions.

  • International Degree: If you earned a bachelor’s degree or higher at an international institution, there may be additional documentation required.

    • Degree Certificates: Many international transcripts do not list the degree earned and the degree conferral date – in this case, you must also submit official degree certificates.

    • English Translations: If your international transcript and/or degree certificate is issued in a language other than English, we will need certified word-for-word English translations of these documents.

The translation must be mailed by the translating agency directly to the University of Oregon or issued by the translating agency to you in an envelope bearing the stamp, seal or official signature of the translating agency and placed in a larger envelope, unopened, and mailed to the University of Oregon.

Original-language documents received from the translating agency will not be accepted as official.
