Jesse M. Bell Graduate Loan and Fund

There are two types of Jesse M. Bell Graduate Loans available:


Option for All Graduate Students

The Jesse M. Bell Graduate Loan is a short-term loan available to graduate students of high academic standing to be used in the pursuit of their graduate studies at UO.

Loan approval authority is jointly designated to the associate dean of the Graduate School and the associate director for student financial services in the business affairs office.

Loan Amount

Bell loans can be made up to a maximum of $500. A service charge of $8 per loan will be charged to the student account.

Repayment Schedule

Repayment is due within 30, 60, or 90 days according to the conditions of the individual loan.

Loans that are not paid according to these terms and conditions are subject to the University of Oregon Revolving Charge Account Terms and Conditions.

To Apply

  1. Download, print, and complete the application form (Form A).

  2. Submit your completed application form to the Graduate School in person or as a scanned PDF to gradsch@uoregon.edu.


Option for Graduate Employees (GEs) Who Anticipate Being Paid Late

The Jesse M. Bell Graduate Loan is available to graduate employees (GEs) who anticipate that their paycheck will not be processed by the last day of that month.

Loan approval authority is jointly designated to the associate dean of the Graduate School and the associate director for student financial services in the business affairs office.

Loan Amount

Up to the estimated value of your gross pay for that first month, not to exceed $1,000. The service charge of $8 per loan will be waived.

Repayment Schedule

Repayment is due within 30, 60, or 90 days according to the conditions of the individual loan.

Loans that are not paid according to these terms and conditions are subject to the University of Oregon Revolving Charge Account Terms and Conditions.
