Academic Year: 

The Business/Econ/Math Learning Assistant will provide individual and group support to students in the areas of math and business administration. This individual is part of an advising and tutoring coordination team that will further develop and administer the activities of the Services for Student Athletes’ program. 

The Business/Econ/Math Learning Assistant will be required to handle the following duties: 

  • Tutor select students in all areas related to Business, Economics, and lower level Math; 
  • Work closely with SSA Advisors and Learning Specialists to create comprehensive academic support plans for select students;
  • Prepare daily reports regarding attendance and productivity of assigned students;
  • Communicate with SSA Staff regarding any issues or concerns
  • Assist with other projects as deemed necessary;

Hours:  Must be flexible and available to work approximately 19 hours per week. 

Graduate students pursuing any master’s or doctoral degree are eligible to apply.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Preference given to applicants demonstrating:

  • Specialization in Economics and Business Administration preferred.

  • Knowledge of UO Services for Student Athletes Office and Programs.

  • Superior oral/written communication skills and public speaking experience.

  • Prior experience tutoring and/or teaching Math and/or Business Administration. Especially in BA 101 and EC 201 & 202, as well as lower level Math classes.  

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Experience working with people from a wide variety of educational and socio-economic backgrounds.

  • Familiarity with a variety of UO faculty, as well as departments for tutoring/advising purposes.
