Al Mana Academic Year Fellowship

With funding from a significant gift from Dr. Aisha Almana, a UO graduate, hospital executive and prominent feminist, the UO is able to offer full scholarships for Saudi women to study global health at the UO.

The fund provides academic year fellowships to female Saudi students who wish to enroll in the University of Oregon graduate programs in global health related fields. The overarching goals of the scholarship include:

  • to bring female Saudi students to the UO to study global health;
  • to build research and other partnerships in global health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

To be eligible for the Al Mana Scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • be a female Saudi graduate student, either currently at UO or enrolling in a UO graduate program, in good standing;
  • show potential for high academic achievement; and
  • demonstrate long-term interest in global health issues.

Al Mana Fellows will receive an award covering full time tuition and fees for the academic year, plus a $6,000 stipend.  Fellows will intern approximately 8 hours per week in the Center for Global Health, assisting with programming and outreach activities.

Al Mana Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in a full-time graduate program of study in a global health related field such as: Human Physiology, Biology, Prevention Sciences, Psychology, Anthropology, International Studies (with Global Health Concentration), Health Economics, Environmental Studies (with Global Health Concentration), Women’s and Gender Studies (with Global Health Concentration), etc.

The deadline for the 2016-17 Academic Year is March 15, 2016.
