David S Easly Memorial Graduate Scholarship

Overview

The David S Easly award is designed to support outstanding masters, doctoral, and law students pursuing degrees related to environmental conservation and preservation (see specific eligibility below). Funds are to be used to assist with the academic costs associated with attending the university, such as tuition, fees, books, miscellaneous supplies, travel and research.


Award Details

  • Up to six awards of $5,000 each.
  • Funds will be disbursed to student billing account in equal installments in Fall 2024, Winter 2025, and Spring 2025.

Eligibility and Criteria

Graduate students, enrolled full time at the time of award distribution, in the following programs:

  • Environmental and Natural Resources Law
  • Environmental Studies
  • Earth Sciences
  • Landscape Architecture

OR

Graduate students, enrolled full time at the time of award distribution, from any program who are affiliated with the Institute for Resilient Organizations, Communities, and Environments (formerly Institute for a Sustainable Environment)

Students beginning their studies in Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 are not eligible for this award.

Application

Applicants must apply online. The online application includes:

  • A grant proposal (no more than 1500 words or 3 pages) that includes a description of your research/academic interests, your dissertation topic, how they relate to the requirements of this award, and a description of how you will use these funds.

  • Two letters of recommendation: one from your primary faculty advisor, and one from another faculty member. 

    • Enter recommender's contact information on the application; they will receive an email with a link to upload their letter.
    • The letters should address the student's academic merit and the value of the proposed used of funds.
