    Program Description

    The bioengineering PhD program prepares students to discover and translate research breakthroughs that benefit society. This is a joint PhD program that brings together the intellectual and research resources at the Knight Campus at the University of Oregon and the College of Engineering at Oregon State University. At the UO, students have access to a range of interdisciplinary research in areas such as 3D printing and laser microfabrication, gene therapy, tissue regeneration, and polymer chemistry. Doctoral students have access to state-of-the-art facilities for their research and a collaborative environment with expert mentors. Many faculty mentors are experienced entrepreneurs and can assist in the development of startup companies. The program and faculty are focused on accelerating student success through immersive mentoring and training programs that advance student success in areas such as science communications, career planning/preparation, innovation and entrepreneurship, and fostering a diverse and inclusive team.
