Program Description
The Lundquist College of Business Doctoral Program in Accounting prepares students for careers as accounting faculty at a college or university that values scholarly research. The primary focus in this program is to train students to use economic reasoning to produce research of sufficient quality to warrant publication in a top academic journal. Students work closely with faculty throughout the program—which is designed to encourage joint research among faculty and students and maintain a learning environment that is supportive of each student.
Faculty expertise focuses on federal income taxation, disclosure of financial information, and use of accounting information in corporate governance. The program requires four to five years of work while in residence on the Eugene campus. During this time period, students are required to complete two years of coursework, write and present two summer papers, pass a written comprehensive exam, and successfully defend a dissertation.
