Sarah Spafford

Sarah is honored to continue pursuing her research interests at the University of Oregon as a Raymund Fellow.

She is a first-year PhD student in the Prevention Science program. Specifically, she is interested in bridging the gap between research and practice in suicide prevention. 

Sarah completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Spanish at Azusa Pacific University.

During her undergraduate career, she worked under several professors conducting research on suicidal behaviors and substance abuse and received the Outstanding Senior Psychology Research Award from her department.

Additionally, she completed a Masters of Suicidology through Griffith University in Brisbane.

Throughout her graduate studies, she researched mental health clinician’s experiences of engaging with suicidal clients. 

After completing her PhD, Sarah hopes to continue contributing to suicide prevention through research and teaching the next generation of leaders in this important field.
