Respond to Admission Offer

Respond to your offer of admission via your application status portal.

Deferrals: Deferral policies vary by program. Applicants must work with their prospective program to determine whether deferring admission is a possibility. 

Claim your DuckID and memorize your UO ID # (95#)

Duck ID

Your Duck ID will be your login credentials for most services at the UO (email, Canvas, wireless, etc.). You can claim your Duck ID after the two following criteria has been met: 

  1. The account claim process has opened for your term of admission (check dates here)
  2. You have waited at least two business days after you accept your offer of admission in your application status portal.

UO ID

Your UO ID is your unique personal identifier at the UO. It is 9 digits and starts with 95. You will use this ID when interacting with various campus offices. Your UO ID is available your application status portal.

Find Housing

University Housing offers a number of on-campus or near campus apartments and housing options specifically designed for graduate students or students with families.

Eugene offers a variety of off-campus living arrangements. Attractive off-campus housing in Eugene and Springfield is in high demand. We recommend allowing ample time for your housing search.

Select and Register for Courses

Selecting Coursework: Consult with your program to determine which courses to register for. The advising process varies by program. Review the Division of Graduate Studies' continuous enrollment policy.

Registering for Coursework: Students register for classes through DuckWeb, an online tool available to all admitted students at the UO. You will not be able to register until you have responded to your offer of admission via your application status portal. To log into DuckWeb you will need your UO ID and your Personal Access Code (PAC). Both are available in the "Status Update" section of your application status portal.

Please Note:

Students must register for at least three graduate credits in their term of admission. 

If you register for courses and later decide not to enroll, it is your responsibility to completely withdraw before the start date of your term of admission. Read more here.

The UO Health Center is your source for information on required immunizations, TB questionnaire, and insurance requirements. Review the enrollment requirements now and plan ahead. 

Review Your Health Insurance Options

Health Insurance Options for Domestic Students: UO Student Insurance, Other Insurance.

Graduate Employee (GE) Health Insurance: Students who have a Graduate Employee position can sign up for Health Insurance with the GTFF.

Request Accommodations

Students are encouraged to meet with the Accessible Education Center to request access accommodations and services as needed.

Verify Your Residency Status

The University of Oregon reviews each application for admission to determine residency status. This status determines if the applicant will qualify at an in-state tuition rate or a non-resident tuition rate. You can review your residency status in the official offer of admission you receive from the Division of Graduate Studies. If you believe you are incorrectly classified, contact Brian Stanley, the UO’S residency classification officer.

Read and Accept Billing Account Terms and Conditions

The university's billing account Terms and Conditions (Revolving Charge Agreement) must be read and accepted by all students. Students must agree to the Terms and Conditions in order to register for classes.

Pay Your Bill

Tuition and fees are billed to your student account, available online through DuckWeb.

The Business Affairs Office will email you at your UO email address to remind you about due dates for your university account.

Accept Your Graduate Employee (GE) Appointment

  • Accept your Notice of Appointment in DuckWeb by clicking on "Student Menu" then "Notice of GE Appointments"
  • Complete new hire documents with your hiring department
  • Sign up for Health Insurance with the GTFF
  • Attend Mandatory GE Training
  • Attend optional Day of Teaching

Veterans Affairs

Review Veterans Affairs (VA) Benefits

The Office of Veterans Affairs, a unit within the Office of the Registrar, is located in 244 Oregon Hall and helps eligible student veterans, reservists and dependents obtain educational benefits in compliance with the procedures and regulations of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Students may contact the veterans coordinator for assistance.

Familiarize Yourself with Transportation Options

Biking: Biking is a great way to get around campus and to-from home.

Driving: Secure a Parking Permit

Public Bus: Lane Transit District (LTD) bus service, is available to all students for FREE, this also includes all EmX buses. You must show your UO ID student ID card to the driver when boarding.

Orientation

The Division of Graduate Studies offers a New Graduate Student Orientation.

Many academic programs also hold orientation events – plan to attend those in order to familiarize yourself with your program.

Get Your UO ID card

The UO ID card is the official identification card for students, faculty, and staff at the University of Oregon. You will use it to check out books at the library, gain access to the Student Recreation Center, eat at on-campus dining venues, ride LTD buses for free, and more.

Your UO ID card can also be used as a debit card in the Duck Bucks program. You can use your UO ID card for purchases on campus simply by depositing funds to your Duck Bucks account.
