McNair Scholars

McNair Scholars Graduate Admission

The Graduate School is committed to providing support for the McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. When a McNair Scholar applies for graduate admission to the University of Oregon, the Graduate School will provide a waiver of the graduate application fee.

All fee waivers are requested and approved through the online Graduate School application in GradWeb and are subject to availability. Applicants select the category under which they qualify on the initial application screen and provide the required documentation. For McNair Scholars, a signed letter from the McNair Director at your undergraduate institution is the required documentation. Applicants are able to submit required documentation at two points in the application:

      1. Upon beginning an application applicants can upload required fee waiver documentation by clicking “Upload Now."

        OR

      2. On the final payment page of the application applicants can upload required fee waiver documentation by clicking “Upload Now.”

This option appears when applicants have selected “Upload Later” at the beginning of the application.

Applicant requests will be processed in the order received. Fee waivers are not granted until all of the following steps are complete:

  • Applicant has submitted all required fee waiver documentation;

    AND

  • Applicant fee waiver request has been reviewed and approved as eligible by the Graduate School;

    AND

  • The application to the University of Oregon Graduate School has been completed and submitted via GradWeb.

Even if an applicant has requested a fee waiver and the request has been approved, the fee waiver will not be granted until the applicant submits the completed Graduate School application.

NOTE: If you apply but do not provide the necessary documentation, you may be billed for the graduate application fee upon enrollment.

Questions about the fee waiver process should be addressed to our Admissions Manager at (541) 346-5134 or cortneym@uoregon.edu.

The University of Oregon does not offer graduate tuition remission to McNair Scholars. However, after you have received an acceptance letter from the UO Admissions office, you may contact Cortney C McIntyre-Trent, our Admissions & Communication Mgr Manager at cortneym@uoregon.edu to explore funding options.
